Obama Victory- a change for the worse.

While the liberal left is beside itself in ecstatic celebration, I cannot but feel that the spirit of Antichrist truly walks amongst us. Here is a man who has kept company with a frightening array of radical and racial subversives, nor has he shown much resistence in playng down or discarding the 'messianic' mantle that has been all too readily placed upon him by a post christian society that is now fired up and desperate to extinquish the last few embers of any judeo christian morality and finds in Obama there ultimate hero. (Is it really any suprise they hated Pallin so much?) Some of the admiration that has been lauded on this man is not only over the top but disturbing and from a christian perspective skating at times very close to almost blasphemy, but hey this is nothing new, this is the world 'we' want and these are the gods of our own making we shall see for how long these Philistines will rejoice at the arks capture (1 Samuel 5) God is not mocked (Gal 6:7) and the Philistines soon learned the truth of that amongst the broken pieces of Dagon and there own disease ravaged bodies.

Jesus' words seem very poignant at this moment in time;
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. John 5:43

Though I feel fear and apprehension at what might be coming we need to remind ourselves of Daniel's words to Nebuchadnezzar:

'This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.' Dan 4:17

In this I and many christians take our comfort today and may it drive us to our knees. As James White has so excellently reminded me on his blog (http://www.aomin.org/aoblog/index.php?itemid=2953) We need to pray for Barack Obama, his conversion and that God might yet over rule by yet restraining evil and bringing true liberty through the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Magyar Horde Moves Again

They say the Magyars were originally a nomadic race wandering through the great Siberian Step, perhaps it’s a genetic disposition that has once again led us to move house for the fifth time in 10 years. Not far just down the road, nice location, the only step we are interested in is the one on the property ladder.

Unfortunately unlike the Magyars who were a bunch of barbarian scoundrels engaged in general plunder and horse thieving we find that the removals people play that part quite well, while we play the role of hapless victims.

We’d have done better if they’d have thrown the entire house contents into a skip transported it across to the new house tipped the whole lot into the front garden and we’d have picked through it all at the other end at out leisure, instead we look like the municipal rubbish tip stuffed into a bay fronted 3 up 4 down, and for all this pleasure you pay £700 for a two mile round trip while 4 gorillas play havoc with your life!

Wonder where we’ll move next?

Gospel Power or People Power?

I’m glad that there are Christians and Christian organizations that are prepared to make their voices heard in the public arena, organizations such as the ‘The Christian Institute’, who involve themselves in the public debate on issues such as euthanasia, the erosion of marriage and family life, doing battle and challenging the gross misrepresentation of so much of biblical Christianity in the popular media. While I take comfort in such a work, I cannot help but feel a growing sense of unease that some well meaning folk are being distracted into thinking that we can somehow bring about the rebirth of a ‘Christian Britain’ (if such a place ever really existed?) through the power of vociferous protest, or even by some form of political pressure.

In John 18:36 Jesus says to Pontius Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm."

The great commission states:"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”. Mark 16:15

What then is our true agenda in the light of these words? I feel as angry and as distressed as any other believer at the growing tide of vile mockery against the Christian faith, I have no doubt that for these things men will have to give an answer, in that great and terrible day when the cynical smirk will finally be wiped off the face of the unrighteous forever.

If the darkness of a post ‘Christian society’ grows around us, surely it is the light of the Gospel that needs to be held up and appreciated even more?, Is it not Jesus and his cross that will draw men to him (John 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.") Society is changed when people are changed, wasn’t it Stanley Baldwin who said “You can take the man out of the slum but can you take the slum out of the man?”

I reiterate I appreciate the work of those who raise their voices against the derision of a hostile mocking coliseum. I realise that God has not abandoned a fallen world to chaos, He has appointed governments and authorities, given to them the power of the sword and if Christians are part of that machinery so be it we trust that they will do their duty before God and men faithfully and righteously. History carries with honour the names of great men of God who executed with distinction duty to both God and to man, men like Wilberforce.

Let us not forget why we are here, if we lose sight of the life changing power of the Gospel and exchange it instead for a good cause! Wouldn’t that in the end prove to be a terrible folly and a master stroke of genius for the enemy?

Welcome

Welcome. If in the unlikely event I should ever have anything remotely intelligent, to say I'll put it here!
